1. Exam structure
The new HSK is an international standardized test of Chinese proficiency, which focuses on the ability of non-first language candidates to use Chinese to communicate in life, study and work. The new HSK is divided into two parts: written test and oral test. The written test and oral test are independent of each other. Written exams include HSK (Level 1), HSK (Level 2), HSK (Level 3), HSK (Level 4), HSK (Level 5) and HSK (Level 6); oral exams include HSK (Beginner), HSK (Intermediate) and HSK (advanced), the oral test will be in the form of recording.

2. Examination level

Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 1) can understand and use some very simple Chinese words and sentences, meet specific communication needs, and have the ability to further study Chinese.
Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 2) can communicate in Chinese on familiar daily topics in a simple and direct way, reaching the excellent level of elementary Chinese.
Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 3) can use Chinese to complete basic communication tasks in life, study, work, etc., and can cope with most of the communication tasks encountered when traveling in China.
Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 4) can use Chinese to talk about a wider range of topics and communicate with native Chinese speakers relatively fluently.
Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 5) can read Chinese newspapers and magazines, enjoy Chinese film and television programs, and give more complete speeches in Chinese.
Candidates who pass the HSK (Level 6) can easily understand what they hear or read in Chinese and express their opinions fluently in Chinese in oral or written form.
3. Exam purpose
The new HSK continues the original HSK general (or general) Chinese proficiency test, and is aimed at adult Chinese learners. Its performance can meet diverse needs:
1. Provide a reference for college admissions, class division, course exemption, and credit award.
2. Provide reference basis for employing organizations to hire, train, and promote staff.
3. Provide reference basis for Chinese learners to understand and improve their Chinese application ability.
4. Provide a reference for relevant Chinese teaching units and training institutions to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching or training.
Fourth, the validity period of the score report
As a certificate of Chinese proficiency for foreign students entering Chinese colleges and universities, HSK scores are valid for two years (counting from the day of the test).
