Crossing mountains and seas to fulfill the promise of our ancestral roots, young people gathered to jointly create a new chapter in communication. On the afternoon of July 9, over 100 overseas Chinese youth from countries and regions，such as Australia, the United States, France, and Malaysia, as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and local youth from Dongguan, gathered at Dongguan University of Technology （DGUT）to embark on a profound journey of scientific exploration and youth exchange.

The summer camp was organized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and jointly hosted by the Federation of Overseas Chinese in Guangdong Province, the Department of United Front Work of Dongguan Municipal Committee (Municipal Bureau of Overseas Chinese Affairs), and the Dongguan Federation of Overseas Chinese. The International College, in collaboration with relevant units within the university, meticulously organized this exchange event on campus. The event closely adhered to the theme of “Exploring Science and Technology, Sharing Youthful Vibrancy,” and relied on the university’s scientific and technological innovation platform. Through on-site visits and youth gatherings, participants were able to experience the innovative vitality and campus warmth of DGUT up close during a fulfilling half-day program.

The summer camp participants visited two of our university’s distinctive platforms: the Dongguan Institute of Technology Satellite Ground Station (Guanxing Station) and the Institute of Outstanding Engineers (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy). Through these visits, they gained a firsthand understanding of the university’s vibrant spirit in scientific and technological innovation and its capabilities as a high-level applied research university.

Diverse social events unlock two-way dialogues about youth.

After the tour, the International College, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Department, the Youth League, and the General Services and Logistics Department, established a networking platform for all camp participants and representatives of DGUT’s students. The atmosphere of the event was relaxed, lively, and warm.

On stage, DGUT’s students performed various acts, including drum solos, dance routines, and musical performances. The campers showcased exotic dances and unique songs, with diverse cultures coming together in a harmonious display.

Below the stage, everyone gathered to engage in lively discussions, sharing stories about their lives abroad, campus experiences, growth journeys, and insights into their roots. Through casual interactions, they built connections and formed friendships, allowing the sense of belonging to a shared heritage and the warmth of camaraderie to grow stronger. They truly felt the vibrant energy and human warmth of DGUT.

A special recruitment presentation event to build a bridge for overseas students to come to China and pursue their dreams.

In order to continually enhance the reputation of the “Study in DGUT” brand, the International College held a special recruitment presentation for participants of the summer camp regarding studying in China. Teacher Chen Haidan provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s policies for studying in China and details of various student programs, covering core aspects such as curriculum structure, living support, scholarships, and campus services. Real-life examples were used to demonstrate the overall capabilities of DGUT’s education for studying in China, encouraging more young overseas individuals to learn about and choose DGUT.

The mountains and seas are interconnected, and their roots and veins are intertwined. The International College of Dongguan University of Technology will continue to leverage the university’s strengths in international education, deepen exchanges between China and other countries in the humanities, expand the channels for international students to come to China, promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign education, and help international students realize their dreams and grow in the fertile land of the Bay Area!
