In the warm spring breeze, the Opening Ceremony for the Spring 2026 Language Students at the International College, DGUT, was held on March 11 at Songshan Lake Campus. Students from around the world gathered here, eager to learn Chinese and explore Chinese culture. Attendees included representatives from the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, officers from the Songshan Lake Public Security Sub-bureau, all faculty members, student family representatives, and all new language students.
At the beginning, host Chen Haidan warmly welcomed everyone and introduced the guests, making the new students feel DGUT's warmth and sincerity. Notably, several family members joined the ceremony this year, adding warmth and emotion.
Chen Baiman, Vice Director of the International Cooperation and Exchanges Office and Vice Dean of the International College, delivered a welcome speech.He warmly welcomed international students, noting their arrival brings multicultural vitality and serves as a bridge for mutual understanding. He encouraged students to embrace Chinese culture, study diligently, and become well-rounded talents with global perspectives, wishing them academic success and sincere friendships at DGUT.
Chen Baiman pinned the DGUT emblem on new student representatives. The emblem symbolizes their identity as part of the DGUT community and carries the expectation to live by the university motto: "Through learning we recognize our limitations."
Teacher representative Zhou Chang encouraged students to find joy in learning Chinese, communicate with Chinese friends, and appreciate the cultural charm behind the language. She expressed that all teachers would accompany them throughout a fulfilling and unforgettable learning journey.

To strengthen safety awareness, counselor Chen Haidan gave a special session on daily safety, covering traffic, housing, and online security. She also introduced Chinese laws and regulations, university rules, and how to seek help in emergencies, ensuring a safe life in China.
During self-introductions, students enthusiastically shared their cultural backgrounds, interests, and learning goals. This year, many family members actively participated, sparking applause and laughter. The warm atmosphere brought everyone closer, building bridges of friendship.

The ceremony marked the beginning of the Spring 2026 semester for language students. We hope all students will use Chinese as a bridge to explore the richness of Chinese culture, gain knowledge and friendships, and write their own wonderful chapters at DGUT!
