Recently, Prof. Eelco Galama from NHL-Stenden University, nine international students and responsible teachers from International College of DGUT visited Sofitel Sunrich for an exchange and study trip.
In the morning, we arrived at Sofitel Sunrich which is located in the core area of Tianhe District, Guangzhou, the most prosperous financial and business area. The hotel is full of French culture. Our exchange and study trip began with the cordial and warm greet “Bonjour” from the ambassador of Sofitel Sunrich.
We were attracted by the huge crystal chandelier over the head the moment we walked in the hotel lobby. The hotel management staff told us that the chandelier is the combination of iris tectorum (the floral emblem of France) and bombax ceiba (the floral emblem of Guangzhou), representing the perfect combination of French culture and local culture. In addition, we were excited to see the colorful fancy carps on the wall of the lobby.
After visiting the hotel lobby, we visited the drama suite. We could not help acclaiming. The management staff introduced various details reflecting Chinese culture in the suite, including “dim sum box” to store sundries, “welcome (欢迎) arranged by bamboo pieces on the bed, and the image of five rams (the symbol of Guangzhou) printed on the tissue box. All those details add some Chinese cultural elements to the French suite.
